Hello everyone! I have a new coaster pattern in the works (there’s a sneak peek on my Instagram), but have been working on a few other projects in between. As part of my efforts to stock more options in the shop, my efforts lately have been focused on coasters. This post reviews Repeat Crafter Me’s Apple Coaster crochet pattern. I really love crochet coasters, due to their absorbancy and uniqueness.
Review of Repeat Crafter Me’s Apple Coaster
If you hop over to Repeat Crafter Me’s website, her apple coaster crochet pattern is actually one of several fruit crochet coasters inspired by summer. I haven’t tried the other fruits yet, but definitely plan to try the pear and watermelon soon.
The apple coaster crochet pattern was incredibly easy to follow. I used the recommended leaf pattern as a finishing touch. My coasters were made with Caron Simply Soft rather than Vanna’s choice. I did make a few modifications to the pattern as I went along. On the final round, I alternated 2 single crochet, then 1 single crochet, instead of 2 single crochets in every stitch. This still gave a round appearance, but didn’t space out the double crochets as much. It’s possible that my tension may have been tighter than Sarah’s. For the seeds, I simply double knotted the yarn in the back. Usually coasters aren’t subjected to the heavy duty cycle in the washing machine, so I think this will work out for long term use.
Here’s a few images of my finished coasters. I made both a traditional red and a Granny Smith! If you are short on time or don’t want to make these yourself, these are now stocked in the shop.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have any suggestions on other patterns I should, I’d love to hear about it!
