As promised, there will be two patterns available this month to get your creative juices flowing for Valentine’s Day! What’s better than decorating your home or office with cute coasters and baskets? This first pattern is the Little Heart Coaster crochet pattern. Don’t let the name fool you- these are big hearts that take only a little time to make.
Let’s Get Started!
- Difficulty: Beginner
- Materials:
- 4.5 mm crochet hook (Size G)
- Yarn needle/ darning needle
- Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn- 1 ball white, 1 ball pink, 1 ball red.
- The standard 2.5oz ball should make at least 2 coasters each.
- Stitches used: chain, single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet decreasing and increasing
- Abbreviations:
- ch- chain
- sc- single crochet
- sc2tog- single crochet two together (insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop. insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on the hook. Now there is one stitch where there was two!)
- sl st- slip stitch
- st- stitch
Tips Before Starting:
Leave a longer tail/ end when starting this project to have extra for detailing. Do not turn your work when completing this pattern. There will be a very clear “right side” and “wrong side”. This is not completed “in the round,” but work is not turned at the beginning of each row. There are helpful hints along the way: make sure the 3 sc for the tip of the heart line up. Also, please note that all final stitch counts include the slip stitch that joins the rows.
