Symbols:
( ) – work instructions within parentheses as many times as instructed
[ ] – work instructions within parentheses as many times as instructed
* * – work from star to star as many times as instructed
* – work from star to end of sentence as many times as instructed.
Abbreviations:
alt – alternate
approx – approximately
beg – beginning
bet – between
BO – bind off
CA – color A
CB – color B
CC – contrasting color
cm – centimeters
cn – cable needle
CO – cast on
cont – continue
dec – decrease
dpn – double pointed needles
fl – front loop
g – gram
inc – increase
k, K – knit
K2tog – Knit 2 together
lp, lps – loop, loops
m – meter
M1 – make 1 stitch
MC – main color
mm – millimeters
oz – ounces
p, P – purl
p2tog – purl 2 stitches together
prev – previous
psso – pass slipped stitch over
rem – remaining
rep – repeat
rev st st – reverse stockinette stitch
rnd, rnds – round, rounds
RS – right side
sk – skip
skp- slip, knit, pass stitch over; 1 stitch decreased
sk2p – slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slip stitch over the knit 2 together; 2 stitches decreased
sl – slip
sl1k – slip one knitwise
sl1p – slip one purlwise
sl st – slip stitch
ssk – slip, slip, knit these 2 stitches together; a decrease
st, sts – stitch, stitches
tbl – through back loop
tog – together
WS – wrong side
wyib – with yarn in back
wyif- with yarn in front
yd, yds – yard, yards
yfwd – yarn forward
yo – yarn over
